Shyama Jaswal B.A.,RAc.,R.TCM.P.,DTCM Dip. Registered Acupuncturist & Herbalist. Shyama completed her Doctorate in Traditional Chinese Medicine (5 year program) from The Canadian College Of Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine in Victoria, BC.

As part of her training, she completed an internship in China in the Traditional Chinese Hospitals of both Cheng Du and Anhui Universities. She also graduated with a B.A. from the University of Victoria in Anthropology & Art History.

Shyama brings over 17 years of experience as a Registered Acupuncturist & Traditional Chinese Herbalist. Her practice of Meditation,Qigong & Mindfulness offer a unique & compassionate approach to balancing the mind, body & spirit.

Maria Laslop is a Registered Acupuncturist, a Registered Chinese Herbalist, and a non-practicing Registered Nurse in the province of British Columbia. She graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1990 and a Master of Nursing in 1997. She subsequently went on to study Traditional Chinese Medicine and graduated from the Canadian College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (Victoria, BC) with a four year Diploma of Chinese Medicine.

With almost 40 years experience as a health care professional and a broad knowledge base in both Western and Eastern medicines, Maria offers a unique approach toward health and healing for her patients.

Maria has a robust general practice, yet holds special interest and advanced education in the areas of gynecology, fertility enhancement, pregnancy/obstetrical care and pediatrics. She also holds advanced certification in German Auricular Acupuncture.

Mareena is a Registered Acupuncturist with over 10 years of clinical experience, practicing in Victoria and the Gulf Islands. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Honours) from Queen’s University and graduated magna cum laude from Pacific Rim College in 2015. Mareena taught acupuncture at Pacific Rim College for three years as a Clinic Supervisor.

Since first joining Urban Lotus in 2016, Mareena has developed a well-rounded general practice, treating a wide range of concerns including pain, injury recovery, digestive health, and concussion support. She has a particular interest in women’s health, offering care for menstrual regulation and fertility, and works with patients pursuing both natural approaches and those undergoing assisted reproductive therapies (ART).
